As soon as the case was closed, the CCP media (Chinese Communist Party’s media) channels such as Global Times, QQ News, Sina … simultaneously reported on the murder case in Binh Duong, Vietnam, continuously affirming that the defendants were Falun Gong practitioners despite the fact that in the minutes of testimony from the time of arrest (May 2019) and direct testimony at the first instance trial (June 25, 2020), the defendants repeatedly claimed that they did not practice Falun Gong, but their “self-initiated method”.

At the time when the corpses were discovered, the Vietnamese media massively reported on the case. That is what Vietnamese people could know about.

But in fact, the Vietnamese were unaware that right after the Binh Duong corpses-in-concrete case was discovered, pro-CCP news channels in Taiwan and the CCP media also closely followed and reported the case.

Typically, on May 21, 2019, the website Sina.com.cn of the CCP published a detailed article about the case in Binh Duong, describing the perpetrator’s barbaric killing, while continuing to slander Falun Gong.

Is that the phrases “Falun Gong”, “The strange religion” are “used” on purpose?

On May 15, 2019, since the case was widely reported in Vietnam, there has been many news articles that contain keywords “dead body”; “Concrete”; “Falun Gong”; “Unknown religion”, especially the case has been always associated with the phrase “Falun Gong” or “strange religion”. On May 24, 2019, Thanh Nien newspaper reported the case, citing news from CCP press that considered Falun Gong one of the most dangerous evil religions.

There are many anomalies in news reported by Vietnam’s media. Press coverage is dense in the second half of May 2019 and focused on details such as this group of people live self-contained, emphasizing on barbaric details of the case, and Falun Gong practice.

Other than the cases of a similarly serious nature such as the murder of chicken-delivery schoolgirl in Thai Nguyen, the mass murder in Binh Phuoc … which has been repeatedly reported by the media for a long time, the corpses-in-concrete case in Binh Duong were widely reported by media for about half a month and then stopped until more than a year later, when the court of Binh Duong province judged the case.

After a year, keywords such as “female monster group”, “murder and pour concrete”, “practicing Falun Gong”, “strange religion”.etc … continue to ingrain to many readers’ minds when it comes to the “corpses-in-concrete” murder case in Binh Duong province. However, no one has ever explained what “strange religion” that this group practiced could be.

Practicing a self-initiated method that does not link to Falun Gong.

As soon as the court session ended on June 26, 2020, some Vietnamese media still reported the case and linked it to Falun Gong, despite the fact that the accused confirmed that they didn’t practice Falun Gong.

The Minutes of Interrogation of the accused Le Ngoc Phuong Thao (December 14, 2019) has the following dialogue:

Question: “Can you tell what material you follow and practice? of which religion?”

Answer: “We practiced the method founded by Ha, Ha had the ability to perceive things quicker than others, Ha guided everyone to practice … Ha studied many different sources, many different textbooks such as Falun Gong, Christianity, Buddhism … Ha researched, filtered information, selected useful information to share with everyone in the group. Ha also proposed practice methods such as body cleansing, fasting, smoking, drinking alcohol … ”(Figure 5.1)

(Figure 5.1)

Question: Are you sure that Pham Thi Thien Ha has proposed a new method that does not follow any religion?

Answer: “Yes, Ha has been proposing a new practice method, not following any religion. This method was founded by Ha basing on her own research, filtering information from many methods and forms of religions”. (Figure 5.2)

(Figure 5.2)

Other than many newspapers that repeatedly use the phrase “practicing Falun Gong” or “strange religion” when referring to the “perpetrators” of the corpse-in-concrete case, Pham Thi Thien Ha admitted that she practiced her self-initiated method base on ancient Chinese stories “Investiture of the Gods” and some other religious documents. They affirmed that they did not practice Falun Gong and chose to practice a “seclusion” way to limit contact with people.

In the minutes of Pham Thi Thien Ha’s testimony on May 18, 2019 affirmed: “We lived together not to practice Falun Gong but to stay away from the outside world, and have time to reflect on ourselves, as well as learn about some other religions”. (Figure 5.3)

The Minutes of Interrogation of the accused Pham Thi Thien Ha (October 23, 2019) has the following questions and answers:

Question: What religion have you been practicing?

Answer: I don’t follow any religions. I studied everything, including Falun Gong and other religions. I founded my own method of practice after I did my own research.

Question: Who has ever practiced that method?

Answer: No one has practiced this method yet. Only I knew and I instructed everyone [in my group] to follow. (Figure 4.4)

(Figure 5.4)

Question: What time do you apply the smoking and drinking method?

Answer: I asked my group to smoke, drink alcohol before fasting so that each person can express all of their characteristics… [Because] I have studied and found that when people get drunk they often tell the truth, reveal their bad side.

Question: Are you a practitioner of Falun Gong?

Answer: I am not a practitioner of Falun Gong. I practice the method that is not similar to other Falun Gong practitioners. (Figure 5.5)

(Figure 5.5)

The minutes of interrogation of the accused Pham Thi Thien Ha (November 13, 2019) has the following questions and answers:

Question: How was your group set up?

Answer: … Initially I rented a house in Bau Bang Industrial zone. We put the tent cloth around to avoid the gazes of the outsiders. I was the leader of the group, so I researched different documents and shared them with the others in the group to read and discuss. In addition, I proposed some practice methods such as cleansing, fasting, drinking, smoking, and asked people to do it. Because my practice method did not follow Falun Gong and was a very difficult one, so Hanh and An left the group. (Figure 5.6)

Murder and slander

During its nearly 100 years of existence, the CCP has skillfully practiced sly tricks, slanderous attacks, and used the state’s terror to eliminate Falun Gong. Staging the “self-immolation incident in Tiananmen Square” , this can be considered as the CCP’s centuries-old lie.

To persecute Falun Gong, Jiang Zemin administration enticed 5 people to pretend to be Falun Gong practitioners performing a self-immolation scene at Tiananmen Square. However, after completing their mission, some of them were beaten to death by the CCP’s security agents at the Square, the others were killed to conceal the truth afterwards.

Various Chinese media outlets supported Jiang Zemin and the CCP in their campaign against Falun Gong. Many reporters in the Chinese state media seemed to have completely given up on their professional ethics when they violated the basic principles of TRUTH in journalism. As a tool of persecution, the CCP’s media can be compared to the Nazi Propaganda Department during World War II.

The media’s untruth reports, lies and slanderous information have directly or indirectly resulted in the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners. The exact numbers have not been confirmed, but tens or even hundreds of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners have been detained or forced to flee from their homes. They and their family members have been suffering from their loss of liberty, employment, pensions, housing, education and basic human rights.

On July 3, 2020, the People’s Court of Binh Duong province sentenced Pham Thi Thien Ha to death for murder, Le Ngoc Phuong Thao 22 years in prison, Nguyen Ngoc Tam Huyen 19 years in prison for two crimes of murdering and covering up criminals, Trinh Thi Hong Hoa was sentenced 13 years in prison on the charges of murder and failure to denounce crime.

Hung Hoa commune, Bau Bang district, Binh Duong province has a newly opened industrial zone where a lot of Chinese people come to do business and live. Thanh Nien newspaper also had an article “Strange Street” in Binh Duong, which reflected the fact that many Chinese illegally residing in Binh Duong caused a complicated situation of security and order. Have the hands of CCP agents in Vietnam got involved in the corpses-in-concrete case in Binh Duong?
